Therapy for
Gay, Queer, & Bi Men

LGBTQAI2S+ Coming of Age:

Growing up LGBTQAI2S+, even in the most affirming of environments, carries a cost unlike that experienced by our cis-het peers. LGBTQAI2S+ folks share the unique experience of coming out. This can be defining, triumphant, vulnerable, and a sometimes trauma-inducing life event. Many of us came out on our own terms while others experienced the shock and violation of being exposed unexpectedly and unwillingly.

Protected but Distant:

Staying hidden in a world that may have felt (or been) hostile is - adaptive. But, for many of us, the armor that was once life saving and protective, can now have us keeping others at arms length. This can leave one feeling isolated, lonely, anxious, and depressed. These dissonant feelings often signal a longing for deeper, more authentic and intimate relationships with others and ourselves. This can be achieved through psychotherapy.

LGBTQAI2S+ Affirming Therapy:

Lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) affirming therapy is facilitated by a therapist who understands, supports, and embraces the dynamic and complex experience of people who identify as sexual and gender minorities. Beyond creating a validating space for clients, LGBTQAI2S+ affirming therapy prioritizes safety while offering unconditional acceptance so members of the community can explore their identities and any residue of internalized homophobia or transphobia. As a queer therapist, I understand the unique challenges faced by gender and sexual minority humans. My deepest commitment to this work is to pay forward the opportunity for healing and growth for the LGBTQAI2S+ people I have the honor to work with.

There is Hope:

Through a process that is gentle, honest, sometimes challenging, and attuned to your unique life’s situations, we can begin to demystify the engrained patterns that may be holding you back from the depth, intimacy, and relationships that so many of us desire. Through this journey of integration, we get to know and embrace parts of the self that needed to be hidden in order to have survived. We can learn to honor and understand the ways we’ve protected our hearts while developing discernment around when this armor is serving us and when it is not. In doing so, we make room for new, enlivened ways of being in the world.

Many of the people I work with, over time, experience greater self-esteem and self-actualization, confidence, improvement in the quality of relationships with self and others, and a more general sense of balance.
